April 14, 2016 03:35 am | Updated 03:35 am IST - AHMEDABAD

BJP MP Naran Kachhadia was on Wednesday convicted by a local court and sentenced to three years’ imprisonment, and fined Rs. 25,000 for assaulting a doctor at a government hospital in Amreli three years ago. The conviction was handed down by the designated court for cases under the SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act because Dr. Dhanji Dabhi who was assaulted belonged to the Scheduled Caste.

Mr Kachhadia is a two-time parliamentarian from Amreli in the Saurashtra region.
