Katihar and Madhepura districts accounted for two deaths each, while Araria and Saharsa recorded one casualty each, it said in a statement.

An estimated 21.99 lakh people have been affected by flood across 10 districts — Purnia, Kishanganj, Araria, Darbhanga, Madhepura, Bhagalpur, Katihar, Saharsa, Supaul and Gopal district, the statement said.

Assam also continued to be ravaged by floods as an estimated 19 lakh people were affected due to heavy rainfall and swelling of rivers triggered by incessant rain in the upper catchment areas of Arunachal Pradesh and Bhutan.
