24 riots victims chargesheeted for camping on Govt. land

Police have filed chargesheet against 24 riot-affected persons living in relief camps for allegedly encroaching upon the forest land in Malakpur, Akbarpur Suneti villages under Kairana police station in Shamli district here.

They have been booked for encroaching upon government land. Four persons from Malakpur relief camp and 20 from Akbarpur Suneti camp have been booked for encroachment, police said today.

Forest department had registered a case against the riot-victims in January.

Earlier Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi had visited the relief camps at Malakpur.

Over 60 persons were killed and thousands were rendered homeless during the riots in Muzaffarnagar and adjoining areas in September last year.
