About 20 Naxals, including a woman, have been arrested from Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district, police said here on Monday.

Acting on a tip-off, police arrested the rebels yesterday from Dhanora taluka, they said.

As the police team proceeded towards the Naxal hideout, the outlaws — sensing trouble — opened fire at them which drew immediate retaliation from the patrol party, they said.

There were no casualties on the either side, police said, adding that four indigenously made rifles and rounds were recovered from the possession of the ultras.

The woman Naxal belongs to Militia Dalam and was allegedly involved in Hattigota violence in May 2009 in which 16 security personnel, including five policewomen, were killed by the extremists.
