Two taxi drivers were killed and five other persons seriously wounded when a foreign-made bomb exploded on Wednesday morning at a parking lot at Moirangkhom near the police headquarters and military installations here. The offices and residences of Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh and his deputy Gaikhangam Gangmei are located nearby.

While one driver died on the spot, the other succumbed to his injuries at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences hospital. Mr. Ibobi and Mr. Gangmei visited the hospital and consoled family members.

So far there has been no claim from any underground organisation for the blast.

On Tuesday morning, five persons including two students were injured when a bomb exploded. The police have beefed up security in and around Imphal.
