19 die as bus plunges into gorge in Uttarakhand

Nineteen people were killed and four injured when a bus plunged into a gorge at Ghat in Uttarakhand on Saturday afternoon, Chamoli District Magistrate S.A. Murugesan said. The bus, on a regular trip from Haridwar to Ghat, fell almost 120 metres downhill as it was nearing the destination, he said.

The victims were residents of Ghat and nearby villages.

Two of the injured were flown to the Dehradun hospital from Gopeshwar by a chopper and the other two were being treated in the district hospital in Gopeshwar.
