A 17-year-old girl was gang-raped by unidentified youths in the Deganga block of West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district on Thursday, the police said on Friday.

Her family said the accused applied chloroform on her when she was lighting candles for Diwali, dragged her to a desolate spot and raped her.

After regaining consciousness, the girl returned home and narrated her ordeal.

“We have registered a case of gang rape. No arrests have been made so far,” an officer of the Deganga police station told The Hindu .
