At least fifteen persons died in rain and cold related incidents in Uttar Pradesh as cold wave combined with fog and rainy weather continued to mar normal life in the state.

Five persons died in Jaunpur district, three in Hamirpur, two each in Etah, Barabanki and Sitapur and one in Bhadoi during the last 24 hours, sources said.

According to the Meteorological department, moderate to rather heavy rain/thundershowers lashed most parts of the state. Some areas of the state got heavy to very heavy rains.

The lowest minimum temperature in the state was recorded in Najibabad area of Bijnor at 7 deg C.

Night temperature rose appreciably in Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Faizabad, Lucknow, Agra, Meerut divisions.

The temperature was markedly above normal in Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Faizabad, Allahabad, Jhansi, Agra division, and appreciably above normal in Kanpur, Lucknow, Bareilly, Moradabad division.
