A total of 14 people were killed and 23 injured when a bus rammed a stationary truck on Lucknow-Basti road early on Saturday, police said.
The mishap took place around 3 a.m. when the overloaded bus hit the truck after one of its tyres deflated and the driver lost control of the vehicle.
Those killed have been identified as Farooq, Hukumdar, Mahboob Ali, Jai Narain, Safiq (all from Sidddhartnagar), Surendra Kumar Yadav, Raj Narain Pandey, Ram Mani Pandey (all from Basti), Jitendra, Afsar Ahmed, Shahid, Taresh Kumar Yadav, Iklaq (all from Sant Kabirnagar). One person remained unidentified, police said.
