The police have seized more than 13,000 kg of opium and 650 kg of dodachura, an opium derivative, valued at nearly Rs.40 crore, in Rajasthan's Chittorgarh district. One person has been arrested in this connection.
According to Additional Director-General of Police Girraj Meena, on Friday, a police team, headed by Additional Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar, under ‘Operation Funda,' recovered the narcotics from a vehicle in Bhalot village in that district.
Mr. Meena said one Kanahiyalal, alias Kana, who initially reversed his van and then allegedly tried to flee on seeing the police on patrol near a school in the village, was arrested.
The police seized the vehicle and recovered the narcotics, stacked in gunny bags from his vehicle, he said.
A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act has been registered and Kanahiyalal is being interrogated, Mr. Meena said.
