Twelve people were on Wednesday killed and 20 others injured when a bus fell into the ditch near Uchasiya village in the district.
The bus carrying about 96 passengers was going from Bahraich to Delhi when the mishap took place on National Highway 24, police said.
The injured were rushed to a hospital where 12 died during treatment while the condition of 10 others was stated to be serious.
