11 killed, 38 injured as bus falls into gorge in Kargil district

At least eleven people were killed and 38 others injured when a bus fell into a gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kargil district, police said here on Saturday.

The bus carrying 49 passengers was on its way to Kargil town from Padum when it skidded off the road and rolled into the gorge near Panzilla, 300 km from Srinagar on Friday.

At least 11 passengers, including a child, died and 38 others were injured in the mishap, police said.

While 34 injured were taken to hospitals in Padum and Kargil, four critically injured have been shifted to hospitals in Srinagar and Leh, the police said.
