NAGPUR: Ten members of the Communist Party of India (Maoist), who worked in the Darbha division of Bastar, Chhattisgarh, surrendered to the police on Friday.

The Bastar police said that the surrenders, in the presence of Dantewada range Deputy Inspector General of Police P. Sudarraj, were a result of the community policing campaign Amcho Bastar Amcho Police (Our Bastar, Our Police). “They were also attracted by the surrender and rehabilitation policy of the State government. They were working for the CPI (Maoist) since 2014,” the Bastar police said in a statement. They included seven Jan Militia members, two Janatana Sarkar members, and one member of the Chetna Natya Mandali.
