Orders won’t be cancelled: OFB

The Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) on Thursday assured its suppliers in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise sector that all contracted orders would be executed.

The promise came a day after members of the Federation of MSME Vendors of Defence and Aerospace said orders were abruptly cancelled by the OFB, and this would push them to bankruptcy.

“OFB would like to assure everyone concerned that all the valid supply orders will be executed, including those in the pipeline. In turn, MSMEs will have to provide products that meet the stringent quality requirements of our service personnel,” OFB PRO Uddipan Mukherjee said in a statement.

Federation president Neeraj Raizada told journalists on Wednesday that the Master-General Ordnance would send orders to the OFB for the entire year, and the decrease in the order value from ₹16,000 crore in 2017-18 to ₹10,000 crore in 2018-19 led to the cancellation of orders.
