The police remain clueless about the murder of anti-superstition activist Dr. Narendra Dabholkar, even though eight days have passed since the killing, Pune Police Commissioner Gulabrao Pol said on Wednesday.

Only one out of the 96 eye-witnesses has come forward to reveal information, Mr. Pol said.

“We still haven’t found any clues. We appeal to people to give us any information they have, even if it is relayed anonymously. Ninety six people were around the murder spot but they are scared, and are not revealing anything to the police.”

A sketch of one of the accused has been prepared with the recollections of the sole eye-witness, the Commissioner said. Mr. Pol said retired police officials have also been called for help. Stating that investigations are on from all angles, he said caste panchayats are also being questioned and 19 teams have been formed by the police so far.

Dr. Dabholkar’s son Hamid and daughter Mukta also met Mr. Pol to inquire about the progress in the investigation.
