A McDonald’s outlet here allegedly denied a destitute child a snack, though it was being paid for by a customer.
The denial has sparked outrage on social media after the woman, who had accompanied the child to the restaurant, revealed details in what appears to be a Facebook post on a discussion thread on Reddit.
The woman said in her post that on a visit to the city last week, she went to the fast food outlet along with her friends and bought Coke Floats.
On seeing the child standing outside, she decided to buy him a Fanta Float. She took the child into the outlet and joined the queue. Even as they stood in the queue, staff of the outlet came and pushed the child out.
Despite her protestations that she was paying for the child, a McDonald’s employee pushed him out, allegedly retorting that “such people were not allowed in the restaurant.”
However, the woman bought the Fanta Float and gave it to the child outside the restaurant.
She also uploaded a picture of the child and the bill on her Facebook account.
Meanwhile, a news agency has tweeted, quoting McDonald’s India, that the company would probe whether any of its employees “had breached basic courtesy” and would take appropriate action.
