One person was charred to death while another seriously injured when a fire broke out in a slum cluster in east Delhi after an electric wire fell on it in the wee hours of Sunday.

The incident took place in the slum cluster located behind Ankur apartment in Patparganj at around 2:50 am, a senior fire brigade official said.

Seven fire tenders were rushed to the spot which doused the blaze within an hour. One person died while another was seriously injured in the incident.

“The blaze broke out after an electric wire caught fire and fell on it,” the official said.

Earlier on April 8, around 600 hutments were gutted when a major power transmission line fell down on a slum in Ghazipur.
