Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday expressed concern over Pakistani shelling on the International Border in Jammu and asked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to honour the 2003 ceasefire agreement.
Addressing a public meeting at Ranbir Singhpora, close to the turbulent IB in Jammu, Mr Abdullah questioned Islamabad's "friendship rhetoric" in the backdrop of shelling on the Indian border posts as well as the civilian population in the border strip from Kathua to Poonch.
The Chief Minister said, “Clearly, he either lacks the will, intention and sincerity or has no control over his Army.”
Mr Abdullah referred to the 2003 ceasefire and said that it had remained intact despite major terror attacks on the former chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad's public rally at Sher-Kashmir Park in Srinagar, a number of fidayeen strikes and finally the carnage in Mumbai in November 2008.
