One of the crew members of the advanced light helicopter Dhruv, which crashed in Uttar Pradesh on Friday, has been identified as Sqn. Ldr. R. Manu, hailing from Udayanapuram near Vaikom.

He was the co-pilot of the helicopter which developed a technical snag and crashed on a field in a village in Sitapur, killing all the seven passengers, including the two crew members.

The 30-year-old IAF officer had last visited his home village three months ago.

His body is expected to be brought back to his ancestral home here on Sunday.
