The Union government has decided to extend the tenure of the Commonwealth Games' Organising Committee (OC) officials until further orders.

Announcing the decision after a meeting of the Group of Ministers (GoM) coordinating the Games, Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy said that the Sports Ministry would decide when to wind up the OC.

The decision comes even as allegations of corruption in the conduct of the Games are being probed by several agencies.

Mr. Reddy refused to comment on the investigations, insisting that as the Prime Minister had formed a panel to look into the allegations, it was not for the GoM to fix accountability or scrutinise anyone.

He also refused to comment on the ongoing war of words between Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and OC Chairman Suresh Kalmadi on corruption charges. Both attended the GoM, along with Sports Minister M.S. Gill.

Mr. Reddy insisted that the meeting was cordial.
