‘Not diluting definition of rape’

Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram on Tuesday said the Centre was not diluting the definition of rape and proposals were on to widen the term to include all kinds of sexual assault.

Replying to supplementary questions in the Lok Sabha, he said the suggestion to make sexual assault gender neutral was made by a committee a few days back.

A similar recommendation was also by the Law Commission. The Home Ministry would soon bring a Bill on the subject, he said.
