With the Trinamool Congress demanding a public apology from Narendra Modi for questioning the sale of a Mamata Banerjee painting, BJP spokesperson Siddharth Nath Singh today said that the party was not bothered as the matter was in the public domain for the last one year.

“We are not bothered about their threats against Narendra Modi. Let them do whatever they want. If they have to file a defamation suit, then what were they doing for last one year when the matter first came out in public?” Singh told PTI.

“Neither the BJP leadership nor the party workers are afraid about intimidation, which Trinamool has been using to terrorise our workers. The people of Bengal know the truth,” Singh said.

After slamming the BJP Prime Ministerial candidate as ’Butcher of Gujarat’, the Trinamool Congress on Monday demanded that the Gujarat Chief Minister apologise publicly or face a defamation case for questioning the sale of a Mamata Banerjee painting.

Trinmaool Congress leader Mukul Roy said the party had written to the Election Commission that such unsubstantiated allegations were a violation of the Model Code of Conduct
