No VIP break darshan at Tirumala from May 1

April 28, 2013 10:45 pm | Updated 10:45 pm IST - Tirumala:

In yet another pilgrim-friendly initiative, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) management has cancelled the VIP break darshan in the evenings from May 1.

At a joint press conference on Sunday, TTD Chairman K. Bapiraju and Executive Officer L.V. Subramanyam said the decision was taken as the pilgrim turnout would be at its zenith in the coming days.

In the first instance, the restriction will be in force till May 31 and is likely to be extended further, depending on the flow of pilgrims. However, it is not applicable on Thursdays.

The management is also contemplating to ‘slap’ the restriction even on festive occasions and on special days subject to the discretionary powers of the Executive Officer.

Mr. Subramanyam appealed to VIPs to cooperate with the management.
