The Supreme Court on Tuesday asked the Justice Mukul Mudgal Committee whether it would be in a position to conduct further probe into the allegations contained in the sealed cover against N. Srinivasan and 12 others, including some prominent cricketers, in the IPL spot-fixing and betting scam.
A Bench of Justices A.K. Patnaik and Ibrahim Kalifulla came out with this suggestion after going through the probe panel proposed by the BCCI.
The cricket board had proposed former Calcutta High Court Chief Justice J.N. Patel, former CBI Director, R.K. Raghavan and former cricketer Ravi Shastri for the panel.
The Bench assured Justice Mudgal assistance by probe agencies to conduct the investigation.
“We have given consent for being in the probe panel subject to approval by the apex court,” Justice Mudgal told The Hindu .
