Air Chief Marshal P.V. Naik said on Friday that India would have no problem if the United States drones meant to be supplied to Pakistan were used against the Taliban.
Talking to journalists after delivering the Air Chief Marshal L.M. Katre Memorial Lecture here, he said: “As long as it is meant to act against the Taliban, we have no problem.”
Earlier in his lecture, the Air Chief Marshal said the Indian Air Force also foresaw greater specialisation and increased dependence on unmanned vehicles.
To another query on China’s reported preparations to build an airstrip near its border with India, he said, “I don’t know what preparations you are talking about. China can do whatever it wants within its borders. Anybody can build an airstrip within their own borders. But there is no build-up on the border and nothing has changed.”
On his recent visit to Bangladesh, the Air Chief Marshal said the visit early this week had been very fruitful and he had long discussions with the defence officials of that country. “The purpose of my visit was to discuss matters like increasing cooperation between the air forces of the two countries. We have to take the cooperation to the next level,” he said.
