The Maharashtra Chief Minister blames the newspapers for factual inaccuracy in the reporting of Bombay High Court proceedings.

April 08, 2015 01:29 am | Updated 12:46 pm IST - MUMBAI:

Blaming the newspapers for factually incorrect reporting of proceedings in the Bombay High Court, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday said that his government had no plan to ban slaughter of goats.

On Monday, the High Court asked the State why it banned the slaughter of only cows and bulls and not goats. To this, A-G Sunil Manohar said the government was considering it.

On Tuesday, Shiv Sena MLA Sunil Prabhu raised a point of information in the Assembly on the news reports indicating the government’s intention to ban goat slaughter as well.

“I have spoken to Mr. Manohar and he informed me that he never said such a thing in court. The newspapers have published it wrongly,” said Mr. Fadnavis.
