The Centre has not received any memorandum from any state seeking drought relief on account of delayed and deficient monsoon, Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh said here on Monday.

“We won’t fall ill because mausam ka mizaaz achcha hai (we won’t fall ill as the weather is good),” he said replying to questions at a press conference on whether deficient monsoon will impact kharif.

“We have not received any memorandum from any state government. Nevertheless, we have assured states of all possible help to tide over the situation,” he said.

Till last Friday, kharif sowing was lower by 26.87 per cent compared to last year and the cumulative rainfall this season has been 25 per cent below the Long Period Average than in the corresponding period last year.
