The West Bengal government on Thursday said that it did not have any knowledge of a letter being received from the Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram.

“In the last three to four days no letter has been received” State Chief Secretary Ashoke Mohan Chakraborty said.

Earlier, Home Secretary Ardhendu Sen too replied in the negative . “I have no knowledge of any letter”, he told reporters after a meeting on the security arrangements at the ongoing international film festival in the city.

The media was trying to clarify a report received over the wires which said that Mr. Mr. Chidambaram had communicated to Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee expressing concern about the ongoing strife between the political parties in various parts of the State.
