A day after >Robert Vadra alleged that he was being subjected to a “political witch- hunt”, Haryana government on Monday said that there is no interference from its side in the inquiry into the land deals linked to him and that it has a strong case.
“Whatever he has achieved till date is because of politics only. If he is talking about the inquiry, then we don’t have anything to do with it. There is no interference from our side.
“The Commission is probing the matter and we have no role in that. It is between the Commission and Vadra,” senior Haryana Minister Anil Vij told reporters here, referring to the one-man Justice S N Dhingra Commission which is looking into grant of land licences to some companies including that of Vadra in four villages of Gurgaon.
“But, yes, if the Commission in its report gives its recommendations against Vadra, we will take strict action,” he said.
His comments came in the wake of Robert Vadra, whose land deals are being probed in BJP-ruled Haryana and Rajasthan, contending that he was being subjected to a “political witch-hunt” and used as a “political tool“.
However, Vij, a five-time MLA from Ambala Cantt said, “We are not predicting what the inquiry might conclude in future.
We believe that our case is strong and that is why we are saying so.”
Son-in-law of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Vadra had said a distinction should be made between him as an individual conducting business like anyone else and the politics of the family of his wife Priyanka Gandhi Vadra “without constantly attempting to link the two”.
Alleging that there was a “sustained political attack” on him, the 46-year-old Vadra has claimed that BJP was using attacks on him as a “political tool whenever they need to divert public attention”.
Justice S N Dhingra Commission will soon submit its report, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had said at a recent function in Jind.
Khattar had also said all “wrongdoings” of previous government would be made public and alleged scams, involving crores of rupees, would be exposed.
The BJP government had in May appointed the one-man Commission of Inquiry to probe about alleged irregularities in grant of licences by the Department of Town and Country Planning to some companies, including that of Robert Vadra’s, in Sector 83 of Gurgaon for developing commercial colonies.
