A day after BJP general secretary Ram Madhav met Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and called for better coordination between the alliance partners in the State, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh indicated on Thursday that the Centre and the State were not on a collision course.

Mr. Singh told both the Houses that the Jammu and Kashmir government had a “proper system’’ for effective surveillance of Mr. Alam’s activities. “As and when anything adverse surfaces, appropriate action as envisaged by law will be taken,” he said.

The Centre had issued an advisory to the State government to take steps to challenge the bail orders in all the 27 criminal cases registered against him, he added. The Centre has also asked the State government to ensure close surveillance of Mr. Alam and his associates, and take immediate appropriate action under the Public Safety Act.
