Nine more convicted in fodder scam

A special CBI court on Thursday found nine fodder scam accused, including a former regional director, guilty of fraudulently withdrawing Rs.50.37 lakh from the Hazaribagh treasury in the 1990s.

Special CBI Judge Bireshwar Jha Prabir sentenced a supplier, Anil Kumar, to two-and-half years of rigorous imprisonment. The court will pronounce the quantum of punishment against the other convicts on Friday.

A former regional director of the Animal Husbandry Department, K.N. Singh, and two other former officials were among the nine convicted in the case.
