The street walls of south Kashmir have turned into canvas for the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen to win the attention of the people of the region.
While the NIA posters seek cooperation in nabbing militants involved in the Udhampur attack, the Hizb has asked the people to desist from “anti-movement activities”.
As the NIA reportedly set up offices in Jammu and Kashmir for the first time, the first public campaign against militants was launched in Pulwama district on Thursday — a poster campaign against fugitive militants.
The posters announce a reward of Rs. 10 lakh and Rs. 5 lakh to those providing information regarding two wanted militants Abu Qasim Ilyas Abdul Rehman and Abu Okasha, respectively, both suspected to be the masterminds behind the Udhampur attack. “Aged 18 or 19, Abu Okasha is a resident of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Pakistan,” read the posters.
The Hizbul Mujahideen posters claimed to have identified some “anti-movement activities”. “While our militants are laying down their lives for the cause, there are certain elements who indulge in anti-Islamic activities,” reads the poster in Urdu.
