State-run hydro power producer NHPC has suffered generation loss of 100 million units at two of its power plants due to deficient rains.

"Two of our power plants in Manipur and Himachal Pradesh have been affected by the monsoon and have suffered a loss of 100 million units," CMD NHPC S K Garg told reporters here.

Despite the sluggish monsoon, the company is confident of achieving the target of generating 17,000 million units this year, of which 9,100 million units have already been produced, he said.

"The hydro power generation in the country is 10 per cent lower than the same period last year due to lack of rains," CEA chairperson Rakesh Nath told reporters here.
