3 BJP MLAs denied entry into Puducherry Assembly
Puducherry BJP MLAs V. Swaminathan, K.G. Shankar and V. Selva Ganapathy, nominated by the Central government, were stopped from entering the Assembly on Monday. They staged a protest outside the House after Speaker V. Vaithilingam denied them permission in spite of the High Court upholding their appointment. The first session of the 30-member Assembly commenced on Monday with the customary address of Lt. Governor Kiran Bedi.
Uber to sell Southeast Asia business to Grab
Ride-hailing firm Uber Technologies Inc has agreed to sell its Southeast Asian business to bigger regional rival Grab, the firms said in a statement on Monday, marking the U.S. company's second retreat from an Asian market. A shake-up in Asia's fiercely competitive ride-hailing industry became likely earlier this year when Japan-based SoftBank Group Corp's Vision Fund made a multi-billion dollar investment in Uber. SoftBank also invested in Grab.

China will not export excess capacity to nations involved in 'Belt and Road' scheme: minister
China will not export its excess capacity to the countries involved in its “Belt and Road” initiative and will endeavour to not repeat problems it made in the course of its own development, the country's industry minister said on Monday. Miao Wei, the head of of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology told the China Development Forum in Beijing that excess capacity that had been cut “will not return”. “We have simply dismantled those plans altogether,” he said.
