New initiative by TTD likely to end extortion of money by hairdressers

June 08, 2013 01:10 am | Updated 01:10 am IST - Tirumala:

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has come up with an innovative idea of arresting the alleged coercion tactics being adopted by its hairdressers at its ‘kalyanakatta’ (tonsuring centre) bringing in relief to the devotees.

It has decided to provide devotees counterfoil of the tonsuring ticket.

Every tonsuring ticket will have a registration number. The details of the ticket along with the name of the hairdresser who tonsured a devotee will be fed into the computers.

Any devotee can lodge a complaint against a hairdresser seeking more money just by quoting the registration number on his counterfoil. It will facilitate the management in initiating disciplinary action.

The devotees also can lodge the complaint even after returning to their native places. They need not even quote the date and time of their visit as the management can easily get all the details at the click of the mouse.
