New DG for Naval Medical Services

Surgeon Vice-Admiral K.M. Suryanarayana has taken over as the Director General Medical Services (Navy). An alumnus of the Government Medical College in Mysore, the Flag Officer is a post-graduate in medicine and super-specialist in endocrinology.

Commissioned in 1975, he has held various appointments in the Indian Air Force as well as at the tri-services level. He has served as Senior Advisor (Medicine) at the Army Hospital (R&R), in New Delhi and Consultant (Medicine) at the Command Hospital (Air Force) in Bangalore.

He has also held the position of Senior Consultant (Medicine). His previous posting was as Director General Hospital Services (Armed Forces) in the DGAFMS Office, a Defence Ministry release said.
