Embroiled in a controversy over its stakeholders, the Kochi IPL franchise on Thursday effected a change in its top management, appointing Dubai-based businessman Harshad Mehta as its Chairman.

Keshav. T has been named as Chief Executive Officer in place of Shailendra Gaikwad, Kochi team sources said.

Though there is no official word, it is learnt that Mr. Gaikwad no longer functions as spokesman amid speculation that he is sidelined because of his recent controversial statements.

Mr. Mehta is the chairman of the Dubai operations of Rosy Blue Diamond, but his stake in the IPL Kochi franchise is personal.
