Never ever did I prefer Modi to Mayawati: Kejriwal

March 14, 2014 02:31 am | Updated November 27, 2021 06:55 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal clarified on Thursday that he had “never ever” said he would prefer the BJP’s Narendra Modi to Bahujan Samaj Party leader Mayawati for prime minister.

“Tv channels par chal raha hai – ‘kejriwal ne kaha ki Modi aur Mayawati ke beech main Modi ko prefer karunga’ [TV channels are showing that Kejriwal has said that between Mr. Modi and Ms. Mayawati, I prefer Mr. Modi]. I never ever said that,” he tweeted while on a tour of Maharashtra.

The tweet was in response to a media report that if someone were to hold a gun to his head and ask him to choose between Mr. Modi and Ms. Mayawati, Mr. Kejriwal said he would choose the former.

‘Complete fiction’

“Why are some tv channels so desperate for a pro-Modi story?”' he asked in another tweet. “Complete fiction being planted in favour of Modi. Aaise to vote nahi milne wale [No votes will come this way].”

The AAP has said it is locked in a direct fight with the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections.

After his resignation as Delhi Chief Minister, Mr. Kejriwal launched a scathing attack on Mr. Modi and his development model. He even toured Gujarat last week to “verify” the Chief Minister’s claims.
