Nehru remembered on his death anniversary

The nation on Thursday remembered country’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on his 46th death anniversary.

Vice President Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh were among the first to pay floral tributes to the late leader at Shanti Van, the memorial of Nehru.

UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit also paid homage to Nehru at the memorial.

Several Congress leaders, including Mohsina Kidwai, also paid floral tributes to the late leader.

An all religion prayer meeting was organised in the premises of the memorial. Nehru, who was born on November 14, 1889, died on May 27, 1964.
