Naxals set ablaze seven iron ore-laden trucks in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district, police said on Friday.

The trucks were transporting iron ore from mines of Bailadila in the district to Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, when they were stopped by armed Maoists near Nareli village on Thursday night, a police officer told PTI over phone from Dantewada.

The attackers warned truck drivers not to venture into the area and torched the vehicles, he said.

The drivers informed the local police, which lodged a complaint against unidentified persons and launched a probe.

In a similar incident in the district on July 28, the Naxals had torched six iron ore-laden trucks under Kirdul police station area.
