A BJP leader was on Wednesday shot dead by Maoists in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district, police said.

BJP leader Budhara Sodi was shot from a close range by three armed Maoists outside his ancestral house in Keralapal village, Inspector General R.K. Vij said.

Sodi, who was visiting his ancestral house to attend a marriage function, was attacked by the trio with country-made revolvers, Mr. Vij said, adding further investigations were on.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh condemned the attacks and said Naxals were revealing their true colours.
