Modi lands in Kolkata, series of events and meetings lined up

It is expected that family members of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, led by grandnephew Chandra Kumar Bose will meet Mr. Modi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Kolkata on Saturday where he will inaugurate three schemes later in the evening.

Mr. Modi was greeted by West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi and State’s Finance Minister Amit Mitra and the State BJP leadership when he arrived at the airport.

While two of the schemes — Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana — are insurance schemes, the third one Atal Bima Yojana is targeted at “old age income security needs”.

The Prime Minister is also expected to meet State’s Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at Raj Bhavan. A delegation of State leadership of BJP will also meet the Prime Minister later.

Mr. Modi is also expected to pay a visit to Atmasthananda ji Maharaj, the head of Ramakrishna Mission, order whom the Prime Minister considers his guru. The ailing Maharaj is admitted to a hospital and the Prime Minister is likely to pay a visit to the hospital.

Meanwhile, family members of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, led by grandnephew Chandra Kumar Bose will meet Mr. Modi at Raj Bhavan.

On Sunday, the Prime Minister will inaugurate a Rs. 16,0000 crore expansion of IISCO Steel Plant of the Steel Authority of India Ltd at Burnpur in West Bengal’s Bardhaman district.
