Modi wants 10,000 volunteers for Swachh Bharat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who spoke passionately about his pet projects at the BJP’s national office-bearers meeting held in Bengaluru on Thursday, reportedly wanted at least 10,000 of the 10 crore members being enrolled by the party to join the Swachh Bharat mission as volunteers.

According to sources, he said the Swachh Bharat mission must be taken to the village level through the active involvement of the people.

‘A closed issue’

The BJP said on Thursday that Union Minister Giriraj Singh’s “racist comment” against Congress president Sonia Gandhi was a “closed issue” in the wake of the Minister expressing regret.
