Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit to Visakhapatnam, which bore the brunt of cyclone Hudhud, on Tuesday to take stock of the situation. The Prime Minister had spoken to Andhra pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday as Very Severe Cyclonic Storm Hudhud made its landfall in the State.

Authorities said three persons, G. Panchvathi (50), a resident of Kondram (V) of Anakapalli (M) died in a wall collapse incident; Mangari Yerrayya (58), a resident of B.R. Palavalasa (V) Padmanabham (M) after a tree collapsed on him and a one-year-old baby P. Naga Manoj died after the roof collapsed in Visakhapatnam city.

Meanwhile, rain and strong winds continued to shatter Visakhapatnam city. Communication systems, transport system, especially airport and railway lines were damaged. Many electrical poles uprooted and lines damaged.

The Visakhapatnam airport is closed as the roof of building is reportedly damaged and water entered the runway, forcing the authorities to suspend all operations. There is no clarity on restoration of services.
