Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bihar on November 2 to meet victims of the blasts which rocked Patna, the day he addressed the ‘Hunkar’ rally.
BJP leader and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi tweeted on Wednesday saying, “Namo will visit blast victims on 2nd Nov Choti Deepavali day. He will start from Patna by Helicopter beginning 7 AM.”
The party’s Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters here that the BJP would give Rs. five lakh to families of the victims and set up a memorial for them.
The party accused the State government of ‘callousness and casualness’ in the security arrangements for the rally on Sunday.
Responding to comments made by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at Rajgir on Tuesday, Mr. Prasad said the JD(U) leader should explain his silence on the alleged role of Indian Mujahideen in the blasts.
‘Modi was the target’
“Why didn’t you mention Indian Mujahideen which has dented the image of Bihar? This [blasts] was a direct attack on Mr. Modi… He was the target… No lessons were learnt from Bodh Gaya. The conduct of the Nitish government in initiating action against the IM is not of cooperation and coordination but opposition and obstruction,” he said.
“Your comments equating Mr. Modi and the BJP with Hitler and fascism are the sort of language used by a loser. Why are you sounding like this, Nitish-ji?” he asked.
“Nitish never spoke a word about Congress’ corruption, not even a word on inflation, or the mis-governance of the UPA… He did not rule out an alliance with the Congress,” Mr. Prasad said.
