He was detained at a checkpoint by the Assam Rifles personnel
With less than a week to go before the Assembly election in Nagaland, Home Minister Imkong L. Imchen was detained in the Wokha district early on Monday morning after a huge cache of arms and cash worth Rs. 1.1 crore were recovered from the vehicle he was travelling in, officials said.
“The Minister was travelling on the highway between Kohima and Wokha in an entourage of three vehicles when he was stopped at a checkpoint by personnel of the Assam Rifles as about 6.15 a.m. When the personnel found arms, ammunition, cash and liquor in the vehicle, he was detained,” Wokha district commissioner R. Vysan told The Hindu over telephone.
Mr. Vysan said five 7.65 mm pistols, two .303 rifles, 180 rounds of ammunition and 11 bottles of liquor were recovered along with cash of Rs.1.1-crore.

The million dollar question is that what will ultimately happen to Mr. Imchen even if has been handed him over to the district administration and police? Will the law take its own course as in the case of ordinary citizens?
A mockery of democracy.People in power uses corrupt means to stay in
power. Now the voter have to vote for good persons instead of party
based.
This is the first time I've heard of a home minister being detained/ caught for illegal possession of arms, cash and alcohol. It is a crying shame. Anyone who occupies the seat of such high stature should know and be constantly aware of their responsibilities and behave accordingly. There has to be a definite criteria for selection of ministers as well as politicians in general. The fact that there is no accountability in the selection of candidates implies how seriously we are taking this democracy. The truth is that we are electing far more criminals into our parliament and uneducated people who see the world through their narrow vision of caste, ethnicity or religion. We need accountability. We need Visionaries. We need educated politicians who can help move the country forward. The worst part is that this home minister will leave the clutches of the law, with impunity.I somehow suspect that those arms seized were meant for militants..
Are these kind of issues new for our country? I believe people of
India would have got sick of these corrupt activities. Salaried class
are targeted by IT, but they leave these big fishes. What a pity state
of our country?
People are struggling to cope up with the expenses of normal
commodities (vegetables, gas, etc.,) and here guys who should be
serving and caring for people are handling the money in a wrong way.
Feel hurt to see this. Where will our economy grow to? is the
percentage of growth projected, an eyewash? People are starving
without food...children are struggling...people are confused in our
country not knowing what to do....scam after scam scam...
What is our future in this country? A point to think!
