Murthal gang rapes: Delhi women’s panel asks victims to file complaint

After the > first FIR was registered on Sunday in connection with the rapes at Murthal during the Jat agitation, the Delhi Commission for Women has appealed to the other victims to come out and report their cases. The commission also assured assistance to the women in filing the FIR.

“Glad Delhi woman gathered courage to report rape in Murthal. Rapist shud be ashamed not victim. DCW is with victim. Culprits must be punishd [sic]” DCW chairperson Swati Maliwal tweeted. Sources in the commission said that a team would approach the complainant in case she needs legal support. “We are hoping that more women come forth,” said an official with the Commission.

Expressing concern over the reported gang-rapes of at least 10 women in Murthal in Haryana , Ms. Maliwal urged the victims to approach the organisation for legal support and justice. She said they would ensure confidentiality of the victims.
