Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on Thursday took stock of the situation here with top police officials who apprised him of the investigations into Wednesday’s serial blasts that killed 21 people. Mr. Chavan announced a compensation of Rs. 5 lakh for families of blast victims.
“The Chief Minister was updated about the situation following the blasts. He has gone through each and every detail. He is also being updated about the investigations,” a senior police official said.
Mr. Chavan had on Wednesday night visited the blast sites here along with Home Minister P. Chidambaram and spoke to investigators.
Meanwhile, police sources said there were intelligence inputs about possible terror strike but they were not of specific in nature.
At least 21 people were killed and 141 others were injured when three simultaneous blasts ripped through crowded areas in this metropolis in a grim reminder of the 26/11 blasts that killed 166 people.
