Dimple Yadav, the daughter-in-law of Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh, began her foray in politics with her first speech at a rally in Firozabad where she is contesting the by-election for a parliamentary seat.
Introducing his daughter-in-law as the party candidate for the Firozabad by-election, Mulayam Singh promised free water for irrigation from government tube wells. The vacancy in this seat was caused when his son Akhilesh Yadav gave it up to retain the Kanauj seat.
Mr. Singh said the Centre had failed to arrest price rise which affected the common man.
The State government too was doing nothing except promoting its own interests.
Party general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav appealed to the voters to ensure a sound defeat to both the Congress and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidates.
According to local political analysts, the battle in Firozabad would be between Dimple Yadav and actor-turned-politician Raj Babbar, who is contesting on a Congress ticket.
