August 19, 2011 02:14 am | Updated November 17, 2021 12:34 am IST - Bhopal:

The Madhya Pradesh government has decided to request the Centre to order a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the murder of RTI activist Shehla Masood.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has issued directions to the Home department in this regard, according to an official statement released on Thursday evening.

Shehla Masood was murdered right outside her house in broad daylight on Tuesday. The slain activist's parents had met the State Director General of Police to press for a CBI probe in the matter.

The family had decided to approach the DGP after unconfirmed reports about the Bhopal police trying to pass off the death as a suicide.
